I get bunches of these at the office. I bet you do too...

They're not particularly "collectible" to me, but then again, I like the fact they're sort of bold and striking. So, I clip them as closely as I can and drop them in a ziplock baggie for future reference

By the way, I was thinking today, that a mount trimmer might be a good way to precisely clip them close and with a straight edge. Has anyone tried that or another technique?

I use a paper trimmer made for scrapbooking. Its great, some aren't too good, but this one can cut 25 sheets of heavy cardstock like butter.

Kirk:

That series is VERY DIFFICULT to get on cover, properly used. Save the entire cover and put a bundle of ten on ebay. You may be surprised what you get for them.

There are people who collect moder covers showing postal rates and usages. I do this for the Americana Series (1975-1981). There are folks looking for that sort of thing. I could hook you up with a few people in the US who would be most interested in the covers.

Hi Kirk S,

A USA collector would be interested in these.

On the Eagle Presort they were issued in two different year. 2003 and 2004.

I don't have the 2004 ones.

For the USA Flag type, I believe there were several varieties (Rounded corners, square corners)

Anyone have a quick checklist of the different varieties of this stamp?

Dave N.

As David says, keep all you can find. I don't ever remember getting any of the first two myself.

Wow, one man's trash...

Thanks for the info. I confess I didn't even think about leaving them on cover -- I just snipped these three. From now on, I'll leave them on cover.

Thanks for keeping the rest intact, Kirk. To put things into perspective, those modern covers you have are the same as those 1.5-cent covers from the 1930's.

REMEMBER: To-day's junk mail is tomorrow's postal history.

I get 1 every once in a while and add them to a pile. I really like the Flag presort, I wish it was available as a definite regular issue, very eye catching.

Hi All,

Being that these are coil stamps. I keep my eye out for any used on cover that have the plate number. Those I definitely keep.
