Note that R218 and R220 are from the series of 1914, written in the short ribbons at the bottom left and right. It's pretty easy to miss.

Your ribbons only have the shading, that is why I gave the ID of #R244 (Issue of 1917) and #RD31 (stock transfer stamp).

These are revenues, not postage stamps.

The 2009 Scott catalog value is 35c for both stamps in used condition.

Ha ha!

I was sorting some of my 19th century Cuba last year -- they would reissue stamps every year with a new year date. After that, I guess looking for year dates got automatically ingrained...

Unfortunately, USPS has picked up this habit as well. There really is no reason for USPS to reissue the same basic design Forever Stamp with a new year date for the recent rate increase. The "accounting" reason given borders on ridiculous and illogical. It's just a gimmick to milk out more money from collectors.

For those who may be wondering what I'm posting about regarding the "Series 1914" in the ribbon, I pilfered a scan of an R220 and put a red circle around the inscriptions in the ribbons.
