Wow! I think a lot of people must have eyes worst than mine to bid on this homemade forgery.

The paper texture is clear from the photograph. Therefore, the dot raster patterns my eyes are seeing are really there. I'm guessing this was printed at home from a scanned magazine image. Then it was carefully, but very unskillfully, "perforated" with a craft knife!

Amazingly, people (maybe even some non-shills) are bidding this thing up.

A pretty sloppy forgery at best, deceptive selling at least. I messaged the seller already expressing my concerns. Absolute muddy image, poorly executed perfs, totally wrong paper. To top it off it is already over $100. Go figure!! B.T. Barnum

The amount of poor feedback would have alerted me immediately to exercise extreme caution. And then there is the worst reproduction.

Lots of smelly items on their see-all-items list. I was going to say, they are a disgrace to my home state of NY, but I see they are in California.

This seller has a very large number of Stamp Smarter listings reviews; most appear to have significant issues.

I think the biggest thing that is wrong is the fact that the stamp still has traces of a "smudge" cancel in the lower right quadrant and looks like it has been subject to some extreme chemical treatment in an attempt to make it seem mint, NG.

Please be advised that the term "mint no gum" should be restated as "unused no gum". The term "mint" in the Scott US Specialize catalog is reserved for use in combination with "never hinged". Otherwise, the term "unused" is the proper term.

The perforations are definitely fake. Compare with http://item.ebay.com/401032613033

Conclude that the "stamp" is a forgery. If it had been cancelled, that would be fake also.

everyone should report this item to ebay. Generally ebay is ok with forgeries, because they get their fees paid in real dollars, regardless of whether the item is real or not. But if enough people point out it is a fake, they might take it down.

Please explain how to report this to ebay in a realistic workable manner. I have 15 years experience buying and reporting stamps on ebay.

alub,
There is only one way to get ebay's attention; buy a few million shares of their stock, go to the shareholder's meetings, sit in front row, make a lot of noise about dumping your stock unless they change.

Don, even then I don't think they would care. Now, if we could stage a hostile takeover....

alub. I said I had 15 years experience with reporting stamps on ebay. What you point out is one of the many disturbing jokes in the ebay world. Try it you won't like it.
