I'm having trouble deciding if this is a type 1b or not. I'm thinking it might be a 6R1e. thoughts?

thanks

I'm not near my books or my computer so can't confirm if this is 6R. It is a Type IV from the late state of the plate though. The image is also not that great.

It is recut twice at bottom, so definitely Type IV Plate 1 Late. It looks like 6L1L (see big dot between ornaments F and G at lower left and marks in lower label lettering) with the top ornaments doctored (partially painted in). The upper right ornaments (X, Y, Z) look particularly funky. For reference (image taken with permission from Doporto One-Cent Plating Archive):

Agreed, type IV. Left scroll shows this. A larger scan would help confirm Dudley's assessment.
