Just was scanning these US Classic Head Stamps and noticed 1c Franklin Blue Stamp with similar design has 5 lines in Lower Design of the stamp.

I compared it with other 7 stamps that I have of similar design and all of them has only 4 lines at the lower part of the stamp.

I have enlarged the stamp and hopefully can be seen and distinguished here.

This is typically an indicator of a double transfer. I am fairly certain that is what you have. Look just under the "ONE CENT" and you can see some other remnants of the original transfer. A specialist in these stamps may recognize this particular DT and know the position.

DT stands for double transfer, Peter

Thanks Peter for the meaning of DT....sure helps the 101 Acronym people

In terms of ID (identification) of this DT stamp, does it change the Scott ID ?
Thanks !

We frown on using acronyms but there are some important ones for our hobby.

ATD – At The Doctors
BFF – Best Friend Fell
BYOT – Bring Your Own Teeth
FWIW – Forgot Where I Was
IMHO – Is My HearingAid On
LMDO – Laughing My Dentures Out
OMSG – Oh My Sorry Gas

very useful, Don

BYOB: bring your own booze
PTCA: post transcutaneous angioplasty
HDL: high density lipoproteins (good cholesterol)
BTW: by the way
How RU: how are you ?
KO: knock out
CASM: Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine
OMW: on my way

all very useful also

But still serious about building a Glossary of hobby's Acronyms ! Since I am French speaking and use less acros than you guys, a PhD in linguistic will be needed for tthis Job

And, finally, sorry for causing a side-track (ST) to this interesting Post by Newbiestampguy (NBSG)

This forum has a Glossary (upper left hand corner - 4th link down.

Stamp Smarter also has a Glossary that I am currently converting to a fully illustrated one; but it has plenty of acronyms.

Renden, double transfer varieties on older US stamps do not entail separate Scott major-number ID's. Both stamps pictured in the original post are Scott #219.

Thanks Don and dudley.......I know our Glossary does not list all acronyms used in the World of Stamps, having consulting it many times.

Dudley - relevant info for this post.....the hijacking is over !

Apart from this extraneous line at bottom, where else is anyone seeing any evidence of a DT?

The double transfer is pretty obvious, to me anyway, if you look just below the "ONE CENT". Remnants of the original transfer are quite visible. The vertical shading lines below and to the right of the right numeral "1" also impinge on the arabesques that surround the numeral, showing a similar north-south DT.

I understood that. What I meant was that I am modest and I like others to be modest.

Now that you point it out I can see the marks below the lettering of ONE and CENT. Thanks. Not sure I'm seeing the other feature Winston was pointing at, but the cut of the right arabesque does look thin. Perhaps that is it?

At any rate, there seems good evidence here for a 219 DT. One more for the books.

Hi memebers,

Sorry, I completely didn't see the replies, got lost with other things.

Thanks for the insight. Double Transfer, that sounds good. This is my first Double Transfer Stamp from any country. Interesting.

If I have some more interesting things, will have to show here.

Just a quick question though, no relevant to this forum, but general. Do the first day covers exists in mistake without stamp and posmark. Just covers ?

Thanks
