Hi
I heard that it is easier to see bluish paper on an orange background. The picture shows the backs of W-F 4 cent stamps. Are any of them on bluish paper?
Thanks.

There are no used examples of the four-cent W/F on bluish paper. All known examples are unused/mint examples. The four and eight cent issues were never release for sale to the public. Its very unlikely that any you've posted are four-cents on bluish.

I don't actually own any blueish paper ones, but from the pictures I've seen online it should stand out when viewed like you have yours arranged. I believe the China clay types have been de-listed.

Here is an example of blue paper (on left) compared to a normal paper. 'Blue' paper is not blue, it is a grey color. None of the stamps shown in the first post are blue paper; some are toned.

Yesterday, in your other thread, you were given this information, "The 4¢ blue paper was never issued for general use. Only one pane escaped destruction and, according to Johl, most of this pane of 100 are known, all unused."

Once you see a blue paper you will not have a problem checking other stamps. When you go to a show ask a dealer if he has any and check them.

Don, a very interesting article about the "blue paper" is found in the United States Specialist of October, 2016.

As a data point, last week the Kelleher auction house offered this example:

Quote:
Lot 1383. 1909, 4¢ orange brown, bluish paper (360), o.g., lightly hinged, spectacular top quality example of this incredibly rare 4 cent Bluish Paper; a handsome wide margined example with gleaming rich color and finely detailed impression; as this stamp is almost always found off centered, finding one like this is a remarkable accomplishment; we cannot recall ever offering a finer example of this stamp; PSE's population report lists only two other examples grading higher than the VF-80 that this stamp received from the Philatelic Foundation; deserving placement in a collection of distinction, Very Fine, approximately 80 examples are known to exist; with 2013 P.F. certificate graded VF 80. SMQ VF 80; $32,500. Scott $27,500. Estimate $30,000 - 40,000.

A bid was entered for $16,000, but this apparently not meeting the reserve, the lot was passed and not sold.
