A higher quality scan and one of the reverse would be helpful. If flat plate other Scott #'s come into play.

No, it is not a #546.

Measuring a stamp design is one of the least desirable ways to identify one of these stamps. The dimensions given in the catalogs are not accurate enough to make a definitive identification. Dimensions should be done with a template made from other stamps and as the LAST step in determining which stamp you have. You would want to work through all the other criteria (perf, watermark, printing type, design type, cancels) before moving on to dimensions.


Note the back side scan and the ink mark (line running down left hand side). This is called 'setoff' and occurs only on flat plate stamps. During flat plate printing process, sheets of stamps were laid upon one another and wet ink transferred to the bottom of the other sheets.
