Hi guys, finally gonna start posting material I've been acquiring to start my specialized collection of the 1861 1 cent Franklin stamp.

First up is one of the covers I've won recently with a fancy cancel.
Nice bold Steubenville Ohio leaf cancels, Skinner & Eno PP-L3
Fancy cancels are an area I'd really like to take on, budget allowing of course.

Nice one! Is this one of the ex-Jim Lee covers that have been showing up on ebay?

dudley, not sure about this one as the seller is always very sparse with his listings, he doesn't even use Scott #'s. I've seen a bunch listed by the seller mrfancycancel as being described as ex-Lee though.

That would be the one! Kinda curious as to why he lists that way, maybe to cover himself if a stamp/cover isn't legit? Maybe it's just easier for him, he does have a fair amount of followers.
He actually lives about 20 minutes from me but will only sell through ebay, wish I could go look through his stock as he always seems to have some interesting stuff.

Just wanted to post some follow up images of this cover.

The first is a pic of the embossed design on the back flap.

Also looked into the address. The Mt Auburn Young Ladies Institute was a school of higher learning in what is now a Historic District which is part of the larger Mt Auburn neighborhood.
Mt Auburn was founded as a hilltop retreat for the social elite, the most notable resident being President William Howard Taft.

Found an old picture of a catalog cover for the Young Ladies institute

NeoRev,
Nice cover. If you plan on getting into Fancy cancel I suggest you check out The US Cancellation Club. We are working on a new web site but I would happy to send you recent issue of our newsletter. If anyone is interested in the club just send me an email with your address and I will get a back issue to you. I should mention I am the president of the club. Here is my email address vinman2119 @ aol dot com.
