Star Perfs On Legends Of Hollywood

I believe there is a total to date of 12 different Legends of Hollywood stamps. If I'm not mistaken, only the first 4 of the 12 in the series are water activated. Only these 4 and not the self adhesive ones, have star shaped perforations on the 4 corners of each stamp. Someone please correct me if I am wrong on any of these details.

The star shaped perfs are not all that obvious unless you have a block of 4, or one or more of the selvage stamps. The scan is not a great example but the star perf is clear. Marilyn Monroe, scott 2967, is the first in the series. It is a very attractive perf shape but unfortunately, short lived.

I do not collect US stamps so have nothing to check, but it does seem rather wasted.
It would have been better to have had the star perfs all round so at laest one could see a difference. It kind of 'disappears' when it's in the corner [on a stamp without margins that is].

Nice though, and much nicer than that ugly Jigsaw perf on a GB stamp from earlier this year.
