I collect used U.S. For post-2000 issues, I collect the ones that appeal to me.

I also have recent mint U.S. to use when I trade with some American friends who require a SASE.

I have a nice copy of the Frank Sinatra stamp, that I shall put in my album. it is neatly cancelled and has been neatly cropped, yet still on it's envelope paper. It will not soak off.

I have a paper backing from the stamp I used on the SASE. It has a nice little write-up about Frank Sinatra. I was going to mount the stamp on an album page with this paper backing below it... instant write-up!

Regarding this paper backing, should I:
-glue it to the stamp album page?
- hinge it in place?
- put it in a plastic mount?

Thoughts?

David

David:

If you are making a nice write-up about the Sinatra stamp, I would say " Go all the way " and put the nicely cropped stamp in a mount.

It will only add beauty to the page, with the black background.

Hi David......

Try setting the backing paper into a mount and set it in place on the page to see how it looks with the stamp, then decide.......my guess is that having both items in the same type of mount would have the best eye appeal.

I will hinge the stamp (which is used) on to the album page. I use clear mounts, so I will put the backing in a clear mount and see how it looks.

Thanks for the tips!

How about this;

use an oversize mount and put both the stamp (face up) and backing paper (print side up) into the same mount, side by side.

Dave N.:

Good idea; but I'd rather not use the mounts for both. They do get expensive after awhile. That's part of the reason I collect all used stamps.

All,

If you do ebay and are looking for mounts(black background), I just got some by submitting a best price offer of $1.50 per pack of 25mm by 215mm strips, also getting a couple packs of 40 precut 25mmx40mm for $1.00. I think they usually retail for around $6.00. Anyone interested send me a PM and I'll give you the ebay seller. He does have some different sizes. I've ordered some like this before from this seller and they are as advertised. So I've went back and ordered more yesterday.

Moderator, please feel free to delete this if it is inappropriate.

Kind Regards,
