Well, the stamp bug has bitten me again. I think this is about the 8th or 9th time in my 70+ years. Years ago I went for quantity (lots of stamps must be good, right?), then I completed all US airmails, then Newfoundland, then US Cinderellas. This time I am trying for classic US 19th century. I got this from a dealer who I have dealt with for years, so I do trust him. I always appreciate comments and suggestions.

The stamp has a nice light black cancel. That's a good thing for this stamp, as with the heavier black cancellations - the black on black makes it quite hard sometimes to see where the stamp and cancellation start and end.

I took a quick swing to try and plate it last night. I had reduced it to about 3 or so possible positions, but I didn't have enough time to go over it again to see if I could definitively plate it.

Like most "B" reliefs from plate 1, which this no doubt is, it exhibits a guide dot at the lower right, beneath the right rosette. The shape and position of this guide dot allows many of these stamps to be plated. There have been errors found in the Neinken 12c plating, but I don't know how many. Overall, the 12c pamphlet has a nice guide-dot cross reference chart, to enable plating of the 12c stamp.

Anyway, congratulations on your stamp - a very nice addition.
