This is just one reason why everyone NEEDS to have and use a couple of perf gauges.

How many of you do not have any ?

That is a great find. I've worn out my first perf gauge and am working on a second one. I bought that one from you Tom (nr-notrare).

That's two of these events where someone has hit the jackpot on a kilo in the last month, this and the German Hepburn stamp. Now I hope for the average collector that this does not drive up costs of these kilo's while treasure seekers who may start buying these all up, looking for the next jem!

Corrected, nr-notrare but it was part of a small lot.
I believe the gist of what said may yet be true!

Mike....

I'm not sure..........many collectors that frequently buy kilos don't spend $100.00 for auctions of smaller lots.

Wow. I've never heard of this particular stamp.

Now I'm going to have to check all of the Marthas I still have.

Hi Glen......

It's not just this stamp..........almost any defin from that time period has the possibility of having an odd perfing similar to this one.

Also.....Earl P.L. Apeflbaum missed this ! You would think that an established dealer like him would know what he's selling. It just proves that it doesn't matter where stamps come from......it can be very worthwhile to check EVERY stamp. Granted, most will be common items or as described........BUT.....there are great items just waiting to be properly identified.

All of these new finds have been sitting in dealers stock and old collections for many years either mis-identified or just assumed to be properly id'ed.........(except the German Hepburn stamps) I'll bet it won't be very long before we hear about someone else finding something special.

If you don't have and use your perf gauge.....it WILL NOT be you.
