For the most part, grading makes money for the grading companies, not the submittors. Even when submittors do "win the grading lottery" it's not on stamps like the ones depicted in the OP.
Grading definitely makes money for the original sellers. And much as I despise grading, being able to accurately do so by sight is a skill few have, especially for the highest grades.
The only time I can remember buying a graded stamp it was for the cert, not the grade (which was only 80). And the price was fair. Generally, I agree with the haters in this thread, especially when it comes to destroying nice multiples.
