Hi experts,

I am new to stamp collection. I would like to know if this is a scott 10 or 11? Seller labelled it as a 10, but I suspect it is a 11..

hi,

Uploading a clearer photo. I did some research, it seems to resemble 47R1L.

Without actually plating it, the gouging of the UR diamond block certainly looks like plate 1-Late.

It's not a #10 because it's a type II. If you've plated it 47R1L than it's not a 10A either. My first thought was, it's a plate 1 late, also.

No question that it is a Scott #11A from Plate 1L. I am not going to confirm the position since I am short on time and it would spoil all of your fun. The color is most likely a very good example of the 1852 Brownish Carmine. The price you paid is fair if you want a screaming out loud example of a Plate 1L stamp in the 1852 BC shade.

The seller is one that deserves a spot in the stamp sellers Hall of Shame, constantly ripping off collectors with egregious identification errors.

Well it looks like things have gotten better with this seller. No more in house issued certifications. I remember the discussions on SCF.
