I have been asked to do a presentation to a Boy Scout troop July 27th about stamps. This presentation would be a primer to gauge their interest in obtaining their Stamp Collecting Merit Badge. I am wishing to give each scout a packet of stamps to spark their interest. If anyone has any duplicates they would like to donate I will gladly accept them. For those of you whom are scouts and/or mentor youth any suggestions for the presentation are welcome.

Send me an email & I will respond with my mailing address.

I could also use some stamp publications ie. Linns, Scott Stamp Monthly to pass out.

A good website for scouting on stamps info including merit badge requirements is: http://www.sossi.org/website/youth.htm

I just found out that there are 28 boys in this troop & I have 30 to 45 minutes of their time available. I was hoping for a small troop of maybe 15. I hope I can keep their attention. Also, at least 1 scout has the stamp collecting merit badge.

David & Butch,
I wanted to let you know that I have received your stamps.

Harry,
I'm still waiting for your to arrive, hopefully tomorrow-Monday.

If there is anyone else I forgot to say thank you too, my apologies.

One of my fellow SPS members gave me a box of WW stamps in ziplock bags sorted by country or region. Another gave me a large manilla envelope full of US definites. I will have plenty for the scouts to look through.

Harry, Your stamps arrived yesterday- just in time. Boy was that package hard to open. One scout said he was interested in Australian stamps, so I promptly grabbed your package and told him these arrived today from a fellow in Aussie just for you.

Myself and another club member attended the scout meeting last night and had a great time. There were around 12-15 scouts in attendance. Usually, there are more, but they had just had week long summer camp the week before. There were a few whom already had a stamp collection or a family member whom collected. We gave out several bags of stamps & the info packets I had put together. The troop master asked me to become a merit badge counseler & they would have a class sign up for anyone interested. Overall, I think the presentation went well and there was some genuine interest from the scouts. I will keep you all posted with the results.
