Just picked this up,I did a bit of quick research and it looks good,I'm not seeing dollar signs but if this is faked it's an excellent job as the person would have had to get the perfect stamp so the perf tips and holes line up,a lot of work for a 2 dollar postcard ? This is the website picture,it is not even in the mail yet to me,it looks a bit off on the right but I found other 1903 worlds fair cancels that look the same on the right, you guys will know if it fake, that's pretty early for a 301 to be found way back in May/1902 ? I thought you guys would like to see it.

The stamp was not issued until January 17, 1903 according to multiple sources. This World's Fair cancel is a common one, so finding a two cent to match up would not be very difficult if one really wanted to bother. The German receiving mark is also May of 1902, so it seems that someone might have faked this for their own reason. Perhaps to make it appear as a pre-issue usage (but 7 months early????). The only other possibility is that both date slugs were off by a year; one might be possible but two does seem unlikely. However it still seems more likely then someone faking this.

The German receiving date would very eventually become my birthday.

Hi,it will be interesting when it gets here and I try to see underneath the perfs where the cancellation lines are,I don't think that it's easy to fake though because the stamp is on an angle, the stamp is on an angle which makes the cancellation lines on the stamp longer than on a 90 degree stamp, and the top 2 lines on the left of the cancel converge right at the perf tip of "perf tip 2 down",plus all the perf holes and tips need matching on both sides and on an angle(because it's an angled stamp),hitting all the perfs and holes on one side would be hard enough.

Really neat,I can't wait to see it,if is was faked that took a lot of searching for the right stamp, but like you said 7 months ? I think that's too far ahead of Jan/1908 as well, maybe a stolen experimental stamp ?

if you look really closely at the line up of the cancellation on the stamp and the one on the postcard, they are not quite perfect.

Look closely at the second one up from the bottom.
