hello all

i would appreciate any help identifying these 3 cent washingtons.
i know the imperfs are #10 or #11.
i hope I have a #10 but am not sure.

i am fairly certain the perf is a #26 [lines of framing].
too bad it does not have 4 good corners.

i appreciate any and all help.

1000 thanks dan

Hi Dan.......

From what I can see you have 4-#11's and a #25.

There are now 2 #11's listed in Scott....if you post larger close-up's I might be able to see if you have both.

thanks.

i will try to make a larger scan.
i kind of thought these were 11 and a 25.
how much does it hurt the value of the 25 without margins?

this is as large as I can post here the photo.

thanks dan

Hi Dan.......

From what I can see......several of these show how close together these stamps were printed so you can see that any with complete or large margins can sometimes command many times book value and those without or with poor margins are usually discounted, some severely. Your second stamp looks to be a #11A (type 2) w/3+ margins.....(a respectable stamp----although, the pen cancel may be a point of contention for some, most dealers & collectors prefer CDC's like on the other stamps)......the other 3 look like #11's (type 1).....the difference is the inner side frame-lines........they both are valued at $15.00 with complete margins......and, there are certain re-cut lines that might be enough to make even poorly cut imperfs worth a few dollars.

The value of the #25 is quite low due to the missing pieces on the left side....and perfs that cut into the designs of stamps are considered seconds by most dealers......But.....the bottom right corner shows parts of 4 stamps.....this might possibly attract collectors of freaks & oddities enough to retain as much as 10% of SCV if you're lucky......Can you read the year in the cancel ?

None of this can be considered complete without knowing the condition of the backs.

Also.......I don't recall ever seeing an apostrophe in a CDC before........a real curiosity.

are you replying to the 4th imperf?
i thought that was strange also.
there always seems questions about my collection.
i hope the answer can be a good one.

Hi Dan....

Glad to help.....I still find things in my collection that have questions to be answered......that's half the fun of collecting to me.

As with most collections there are usually no items of great value but there can be a fair number of things of moderate value that when added together create a collection with much to teach if one takes the time to search for Q's & A's.
