After having a few old US stamps in my drawer for over a year now I decided to register here and ask you who know better... Are there any stamps in this lot that I should pay more attention to? I mean are they all common, faulty, poor cancels etc.

Thanks

G'Day Tohtori I've noticed that no won has answered this thread as yet so I'll see what I can do,well I would say I like your two lots but I'm not the best judge like coins no two people's view are the same anyway the five three cent Washington's on the top line are Scott #25 with average cancellations (love the last one ) Perfs look O.K.,last two on the top line have nice centering.
can't see any tears or thins as I need to see the back/reverse of the stamp to point these out.
First one in the second line looks like a Scott #11 it has a nice square cut and average cancellation.
and the rest look like Scott #65 again I would have to see the reverse side or back of the stamp to let you know of the thins,
The last one has nice centering so that's about it from me.
I'll let some one else do the Franklin's
Scott #55 or #63 is the last Franklin stamp on the top row my #63 looks very much like this one with the cancellation,
prices sorry I can't help you with
hope this has helped
regards

I think the last eight Franklin's are Scott # 145 second and third on top line could be # 182 and the first top line I'm not sure as I said I'm not to good with the Franklin's .
regards.

The top right blue Franklin is almost assuredly a #63, unless it has a faint grill. It won't be a #55. To quote The Postal Service Guide to US Stamps: "#55-62 are no longer considered postage stamps. Many experts consider them to be essays and/or trail color proofs." There are no listings anywhere, that I know of, with a used #55.
A faulty #63 generally sells from $5.00 up. All of the Franklin stamps should be checked for grills. The photo does not show any of yours to have a grill but a faint, or weak, grill might be visible from the back when using a sidelight across the stamps that would produce a shadow. A weak grill will basically look as if it is embossed with a rectangular checkerboard.

Nugget.....

The #25's have the outside frameline all the way around like the #10's & #11's.......the #26's only have side framelines.
