Hello. Good Day to all Recently purchased a small collection of coils Washington 2 perf. 10's. Reviewing them at the present time.I am asking information about this unused and used George 2. Both appear to have strong rope and possibly heavy lip. Are they type 2's Scott 491's? Both have perforated 10. I went to stamp start, but I am asking for verification from forum about these stamps. Would appreciate any assistance offered. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I guess a better scan of the shading lines in the ribbons would be useful for the experts :). |

Forget measuring, you will have a very hard time trying to ID the stamp based upon a hand measurement.
A quality, high resolution scan (the ribbon and toga button area) would be required to tell the Type (II or III).
Beyond that, please post a scan of the stamp back while it still wet with watermark fluid.
Note: #491's are not common and are easily confused with a #454 - type II, single line watermark. The single line watermarks on the #454 are often very, very hard to see and requires a fair amount of experience (or luck) to see. Don |

This is the back of the unused one- it definitely has no watermark when I checked with Rononsol for watermark detection. It looked clean no lines at all. |

Thank you Don for your statement. That is why I was concern. not sure if it did require watermark for 491. The first one definitely does not have any watermarks. It looked very clean. I am checking the second one used in a few moments. Be back shortly. |

Hello, I see two shading lines in the right ribbon and there could be a watermark at the bottom right corner. (mint stamp) in the used stamp there could be a watermark in the upper left corner. |

A black background greatly improves the visibility of any watermark detection effort. |

I am sorry, however, I do not see a watermark at all. Can someone show me where it is if others can see it as well? It was clean when I placed it up to light too. |
