Is there any way to tell which ones these are, they are clearly different, and the cancel date is 1923.

The stamp on the left is a flat plate stamp (424/498?) while the stamp on the right is a rotary press stamp (542/543?).

Good detective work is better than guessing. The perf 11 flat plate Scott 498 can be verified by the more saturated green color and by counting the bottom perforations that fit between the edges of the design. Fortuitously the perforations of the 498 line up with the side perforations of the rotary press stamp which is a perf 10 x 11 Scott 542. It is also possible to count the top perforations of the 542 to verify perf 10 and rule out the rare perf 11 544.

Why guess when the answers are evident from the image? Less experienced collectors deserve accurate answers, not guesswork.

cfrphoto: I agree with what you said about detective work and with your very well reasoned and supported answer. I could only get so close by the horizontal perforations mostly from the pictures without being able to actually use a perforation gauge so that what I got what to me appeared to be either a 424/543 or 498/542 combination since the vertical perforations were giving me some trouble in my determination. I should have downloaded the pictures and cut and pasted the perforations to compare them with each other better. I have the greatest respect and admiration of your philatelic knowledge and experience.
