Hi Dutch, and a very welcome to this forum from another Dutchman! I do not collect older US, but one website that can help you tremendously is http://stampsmarter.com . Follow the link to 1847. But in the meantime, someone will most certainly ring in with some assistance. By the way, I notice you're from the Eindhoven region - I hailed from Driebergen-Rijsenburg near Utrecht. Peter |

The imperforate stamp appears to be Scott 9, Type IV (recut at top and perhaps at bottom). I can not see the second 1 cent well enough to tell the type other than it is not Types I, III or V. It is most likely Type II any thing else would require plating. The 3 cent pair appears to be a Scott 94 based on shade and paper. It appears to be grilled and by what I can see it could be an "F" grill. In the future it is best to scan individually for a higher quality due to size limits on this web site. |

Looking at the second 1 cent stamp on my IPad where I can enlarge the scan, it looks like the outer line at top is broken. If so it would be a Type IIIA or Scott 22. |

I more or less agree with wtcrowe. I think a better scan will show that the perforated 1c stamp is a Type IIIa from Plate 11. Plate 11 stamps are fairly scarce. Please post a better image of that stamp. |

Yes, that is a B-relief stamp from Plate 11, a Type IIIa, Scott #22. The next improvement on your images could be a more closely cropped image that will allow for more detail in an image that has been optimized to fall below the 200 kb limit. |

When it comes to the 1c issues, one the web sites that has helped me in the past was: http://www.theswedishtiger.com/5-scotts.html Keep asking here and folks in the forum will definitely confirm what you learnt ! Many collectors in this forum are far more experienced than they ever admit. "txstamp" once confirmed my #7 to the exact plate position in less than 20 minutes. I waited for 30 days to get that in writing from the Phil.Foundation ! |

Yes that is what I meant but it didn't make the image any bigger in the end! Oh well. I haven't used the Swedish Tiger site. I like books. If you do go to that site, it is a really good idea to not take his ebay dealer guide very seriously. Some of the listed dealers are ok but some are far from deserving of the "Dealer of Integrity" moniker. |

Yes. agree with Sinclair. Take only their info on stamps... Not their ebay recommendations. |

I love and hate your Scott 22. Per Sinclair, definite plate 11. IIIa. Winston says relief B, but cancel obstructs view of top outer curve line to determine where it ends and perfs go into ornament bottom left. Uggggg. Could be relief A?
Regardless, even with proper relief identification, plate 11 stamps generally cannot be plated anyway. Thus my hate here. But with red cancel and very fine centering, and appears sound... I like it very much as well!

It's a guaranteed B-relief stamp. Nice stamp but it does have a couple pulled perfs at bottom left.
Edit: Make that one pulled perf. |
