For many years, we had a lady at our stamp club give a stamp quiz, once per year. Her name is Helen and it was simply "Helen's Stamp Quiz" on the agenda.

Her quiz was 20 questions. They went from difficult to impossible. Most people got four or five right answers. I got eleven, one year, but it was luck! Many people complained that her quiz was too difficult. You had to pretty much be a specialist in a particular area to get the questin answered correctly.

It was all fun.

In response to those who complained about the difficulty of the quiz... I suggested the Vice-President's quiz. It would include such questions as:

1. What is the face value of the 1851 3d Beaver?
2. What colour is the green Ram Tank on the 14-cent War Effort stamp?
3. What spacecraft is depicted on the U.S. Space Shuttle stamp?

Got any more?

David

Let's try this!
In what sovereign nation was the 1st stamp of Poland issued?
In what sovereign nation was the 1st stamp of Norway?
In what sovereign nation was the 1st stamp of Finland?

warrehouse, is that a trick question? If so, I guess Russia. When stamps were first being issued in the mid 19th century, Poland did not exist. It had been partitioned between Russia, Austria-Hungary, and Prussia, I think.

If the two choices you suggested contain the answer, then I guess Finland.

rohumpy, Yes it is (A Trick ?) Sometimes the obvious, is not.

On the first question, your correct, the Kingdom of Poland in Warsaw was within the Russian Empire and was given postal autonomy in 1860 which was later revoked due to the Polish revolt shortly there after.

I think the second answer must be Sweden, and the third is surely also Russia?

james204, Yes you are correct! Norway was part of the Swedish Kingdom until 1905. Finland was the same situation as Poland, but no rebellion to place there.
