Early Television Shows And Stars

I just saw in the American Philatelist that a new sheetlet of stamps is going on sale tomorrow honoring the shows and tv personalities I grew up with..Steve Allen, Lucille Ball, Lassie etc etc..they should prove very popular....

As long as one can buy them from a Post Office, they will be popular.

I agree. I like how the show honored is framed by a classic picture tube TV screen. There is a wonderful possibility of many First Day of Sale sites and pictorial postmarks.

I saw the picture of the sheet in USA Philatelic and it sure looks nice.

I did like The Lone Ranger, I Love Lucy, and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Of course, they were all in reruns when I watched them.....LOL

We had 3 channels back then and there was always something to watch..now I get 140 cable channels and when I use the clicker all I get is commercials...Groucho Marxes "You Bet Your Life" was popular with all ages..if you said the "secret word" the duck would drop down and give you a hundred dollars..no one complained about a hundred dollars in those days..you could probably stay at the Waldorf Astoria for a week with a hundred !!

I was going to suggest Nick At Nite to catch some reruns.

That works too, Some shows may show up on regular TV as well!

TV Land used to be a good place to catch older shows; lately, though, it's turned to more "original programming" (which means awful "reality" shows).
