I saw a Kojak rerun today about murders committed by someone trying to acquire a very rare stamp. The stamp itself looked like an early German 80pf. Anyway, the person trying to get the stamp for his employer was named Harris. Does that ring any philatelic bells?
I wonder if that name was chosen at random or the producers had at least a little philatelic knowledge?

I loved Kojack, Telly Savalas was great.
I honestly though can't recall the episode.
But back in those days if you missed a show you'd never get a chance to see it again.

Those writers had to have some clue and found it funny to use the Harris name as they were the biggest stamp dealer at that time.

A similar inside joke occurred in the SyFy network, "Eureka", where one of the characters' whose name is 'Fargo' had a grudge bowling match against his arc foe 'Bismarck'. It rather funny if you are familiar with North Dakota. The states largest city vs the capital.

Ah yes. H. E. Harris. Brings back fond memories from many years ago. As a young collector I used to drool over their small(size, not offerings) black and white and not printed clearly catalog and wish and wish. Occasionally, I could order a stamp or two. The current company using the Harris name is not the same at all.
