Phil, You are the man. Great find. I would like to see the front of the postcard. Is the room in cool 50's colors, was there a neon sign beckoning weary travelers in? |

Phil, What do I owe you? It is tedious work to check the backs of postcards, of course you were also looking at the stamps & postal markings I am sure. I wish I had the time & money to search boxes at antique dealers & flea markets.
Why can't I be independently wealthy and not have to work??? Work just gets in the way of my hobbies. LOL |

Phil, Thank you. Yes I do, when I am able. I guess it is a pay it forward mentality.
Sometimes the front of Motel & Hotel postcards can take you back in time, especially with a view of the room or patrons. You can usually determine the decade of the card by dress, furnishings, and vehicles. |

You are correct that not many people have my covers. I guess I should mail more things out than I take in. I do make my covers for the enjoyment, though sometimes it feels like work & time pressure. Darn those 30 day windows & late announcements of pictorial postmarks.
BTW: The Illinois State Fair is going on right now and the theme of this years cover & cancel is The Corn Dog. The best corn dog in my opinion is at the Cozy Dog Drive In here in Springfield- the birthplace of the cozy dog known by everyone else as a corndog. The only reason I mention this is because Route 66 had alignments on each side of the fair grounds and the Cozy Dog is an ICON of 66. See it is relevant to this thread. |

Would you believe I never had a corndog ??? I am 10 minutes away from the Dutchess county fair in Rhinebeck New York...it draws 500,000 people in its run from Tuesday to Sunday...i liked it when I was 15 but do not go as I don't care for crowds too much...some of the local yokels go every day !! I keep my distance !! |

Phil, If you ever make it to Springfield, I will take you to the Cozy Dog for a deep fried treat.
A lot of stamp collectors are introverts and avoid crowds, organized stamp clubs, and other large events. LOL Just Kidding.

Hey, I go to stamp shows with large crowds..i think its cheaper than the fair..you pay 12 bucks to get in and before you know it a hundred dollar bill is gone...i do better at the track in Saratoga..my son and I go up..one day every year..win lose or draw..its a beautiful day !! This Thursday !! |

Phil, I hear you, most stamp shows are free admission & parking. Our fair is $5 to get in & my son is free (for now). I've never been a betting man, however it would be neat to see a live horse race.
David, Thanks that sounds like an interesting article. I'll be on the look out for the stamps. |
