Is a person from Rome, NY a Roman? I'm afraid to ask what a person from Red Hook is called.

OK Phil,

I now understand! A lady at New Haven was selling off boxes of her late husband's collection, and I couldn't resist. I bought 7 boxes of glassines full of stamps. Everyone else seemed to be avoiding the table. Probably because they would end up walking out of the show with their arms full like me.

Jonnio, in a case like yours we usually find some decent stuff..i doubt the good lady took time to sort the material..things like this do happen and you have to seize the opportunity...you can usually get some idea of the quality with a quick scan..if its absolute junk..avoid it like the other people did...

Hi Phil,

There's a lot of duplicates, but I filled almost all my holes in the 1940-1970 period and continue to find Washington Franklin's, earlier commemoratives and some BOB stuff. Some, like a SC# F1, have been tucked away with multiples of a different more common stamp.

I still have only glanced at the WW stuff tucked in.

Thanks,
Jon

Jon, check everything carefully...several times I have had semi valuable stamps fall right in my lap..they were where they were not supposed to be..perhaps a collector dropped a stamp and it was lost to him only to be found by another collector much later..have fun !
