This sheet seems to be from the Philippines, but I can't locate it in my catalogs. Five cents is also an exceptionally low rate for Philippine airmails of that era. Can anyone find it in Scott's? Any clues?

I have to admit I've never seen this stamp -- and I have seen a lot of stamps in the JFK area. Interesting. |

It is not a postage stamp, it may be a fundraiser or 'pretend stamp' that use to be listed in Scott's "For The Record" but even it is not complete.
Missing is the word "Koreo" meaning postage the standard verbage, so if it is real it was not a postage stamp.

Don't have that Michel catalog, but that is an irregular number listed so it probably has some interesting notes about it as well.
Thanks, khj, Thanks for your post as wll I'm still learning a few think as well from your post and others.

Thanks, guys, and khj for nailing it.
Is that a typical Michel style number, or does that say something funny about the stamp? What kind of value do they place on it? |

Sorry, Larry, but I pilfered the Michel number. The only Michel I have is the German Specialized to 1945 and that's at home. The catalog number is not "normal". I do not know what that special category may be. I do know that there are a few singles associated with that S/S. If I remember correctly, the catalog price (Michel inflated, of course) for the entire set was 15 Euros. The S/S is probably about 1/3 of that total catalog price. I don't know what year catalog was used for that reference price. k |

I would think Mike's analysis is correct, and that the S/S was not a normal postage issue, and likely not valid as postage. |

Michel generally uses Roman numbers for not officially issued and/or privately issued stamps. They are listed as a service to the collector and because they are collected, even though they are not real stamps (that is: valid for postage) |

Michel's online catalogue states about the set "Not officially issued". A MNH m/s is valued 2.50€ (roughly 3.50US$). |
