Here is a souvenir sheet from Lebanon (talk about a country messed up for issuing stamps or much of anything, right now.) Anyway, I can't locate it in Scott's, but maybe a fresher pair of eyes can spot it. It looks like it might be a "save the Nubian monuments" type issue from the 1960's, but I don't see it.

Lebanon is a very interesting area to collect -- all of the wars, and the need for the Cedar Overprints (which are found in various series) -- just imagine the Postal History collection one could make...

What's the denomination on this thing? 10p or 50p? Or do you add it up and its a 60p SS?

The face value of the stamp is 10p. However the actual S/S was sold for 50p to raise funds for saving the monuments at Nubia. A few Middle East countries issued special S/S for this, including of course, Egypt.

Larry, a very nice S/S, with good value, too!

Thanks, khj. Yes, I see it at $14.00 in the '05 Scott's.

This one has the look of stamps from the UAR/Egypt, of the time, which I like.

Larry, in the 2009 Scott catalog, the price is $22.50 for MNH, both the perforate and imperforate version.

Many of the Middle East and North/Northeast Africa stamps of the Arab countries have gone up considerably in the past 5 years. Along with it, early Italy. I've seen the catalog value of mine increase 33%-50% in the past 5 years. This price rise is REAL. I'm finding it harder and harder to fill holes.

I was able to pick up some of the Egyptian Nubia S/S before the price jumps.
