As part of my U.S. airmail collection, I collect Texas town and city postmarks. I also collect numbered & lettered duplex postmarks on U.S. airmail stamps. Then I noticed that some had identifiable post offices, in the cetre of their duplex "killer".

Having been to NYC a number of times, here are some of the NYC post office duplex cancels I have...

Some very nice cancels David, thanks for sharing them.

I was thinking of starting up a collection of barred numeral cancels myself, from Victoria (the Australian State). Victoria issued a different number to each post office, so every cancel is identifiable. There were 2100 issued numbers. I've asked for the definitive work on the subject for xmas from the wife

Those are very interesting! I like your collection a lot! Thanks for sharing it :)

On your other note...I'm from Texas. Do you have your Texas town/city postmark collection scanned and posted anywhere? I'd love to see it as well!

No master list, Tom. I saw a cover at a show in NYC a few years back with the same postmark. It said "Hudson Terminal Annex" in the circle of the postmark.

BW:

That is next year's project. Over the winter, I shall be writing up my Texas town and city postmark collection (which is only on airmail stamps and stationery). I'll get it up on this board after that.

I am first concentrating on my main collecting interest... the KGVI Reign of our Commonwealth.

I lived in Brownwood, TX 1994-5, where are you?

David: I look forward to seeing it! I currently live in Austin, but have lived in several other Texas cities. My hometown is Orchard, TX...I doubt you have one from there. Population 301!

khj: Good info! Yup...the pop is up! The sign said 301 when I left for college. Haven't checked recently. We used to joke that they'd have to change it to 300 when I left :) If you know the area at all, Orchard is on Hwy 36 between Rosenberg and Sealy. I don't know if you're getting any kind of special postmarks for your Texas collection, but I'm sure I could send you something from Orchard the next time I visit my parents if you want one.
