Practitioner Dispensing Opium, Coca Leaves, Etc.

These are way back in the book - special tax stamps for physicians dispensing narcotics.
These $1 stamps were from a doctor practicing medicine in New Orleans in the 1930s.

The 1935 stamp shows that Dr. Rosenthal's address had changed to the Maison Blanche Building on Canal Street.



This building, which still stands, was constructed around 1908–1909.
At one time there were many medical and dental offices in the top floors.

I've seen pics of these before and I think they would make a really great side collection. There are really nice pieces t360, and I think they would make a very interesting presentation piece - framed in an office for example!

Thanks LaSwabbie! I picked these up about a month ago at the Riverside Stamp Show held at the Cardinal Spellman Stamp Museum. They are in great shape! Who knows where they've been for the past 70 years or how they got from Dr. Rosenthal's office to New England.
