Hello,

Another noob question, but I won't learn if I don't ask, right :P? What's the best way to pack stamps in order to send them to another collector? I've never done it before and it's easily about 20-30 stamps or so I'd be doing at a time.

ok here is uncle spocks advice

step 1 put the stamps in a small glass line envelope but big enough that you dont have to fold the stamps
step 2 use thin carboard on both sides to pad the envelope so that the stamps dont bend and you dont get killed in postage
step 3 mail the envelope making sure you use better stamps ont he envelope

step 4 tell everyone how your life improved just by meeting spock :)

I buy note cards of different sizes(actually I usually have them around). You can even usually find them at the Dollar Store.

This way their is less danger of the stamps getting damaged.

I find using empty corn flakes boxes or any other cereal boxes works the best.

When affixing postage, make sure you lick the stamps being used for postage, not the stamps you are packing.

Please don't ask me why I would mention this...

I'm sure glad I've never done anything that . . . uh . . . that unusual! Actually I've heard of a collector who opened an envelope with a shipment of stamps by cutting off the end with scissors. Yep, you know what happened.

Commonwealth - In addition to what the others said I also usually wrap the stamps/cards in cling wrap to help keep them dry. That comes from experience also.

Greg, that brought back 2 very very bad memories.

Once I bought a old high value Great Britain stamp. I was so enamored with the postage on the envelope, I forgot to remove the glassine inside before I cut off the postage. On that day, I almost decided to start collecting entire covers!

Another time, I noticed an unusual perfin on a stamp on an album page, so I set the album page aside, face down. The next day, I looked at that album page and noticed some mint stamps stuck down on that album page. So I got my scissors and hap-hazardly started to cut up the album page so I could soak off those stuck down mint stamps. Then I remembered why that album page was on my desk and what was on the other side! That was the first time I created a bisect!

There is no truth to the rumor that I was responsible for the destruction of the "other" 1c magenta before it became unique.
