Charles L. Lyle was a frequent contributor to The STAMP WHOLESALER. Here's one of his articles, a fable that works as well today as it did 44 years ago in January of 1966.

I have left the pages intact to show the surrounding advertisements for further entertainment.

Yes, and $8000 per year was considered to be a very good starting salary for a B.S. degreed public accountant!

Really great reading.
As a Stamp magazine fanatic, I found this fascinating.
I have one or two old magazines I have picked up at markets but they are not seen too often.
I would treasure these.

Which reminds me I have a magazine prize I promised to give away as a competition prize. You have jump started my memory as well as giving me a few moments of pleasure !

Glad you enjoyed it.

That was a bit of a novelty item in what was a stamp trade publication. Whether or not Charles Lyle ever got beyond "Fable, The First" I don't know or remember. However if I come across other articles of possible interest as I go through copies of The STAMP WHOLESALER, I will post them. I saw a couple of articles by Herman Herst, Jr. that might have been good to post but that undoubtedly went into one or another of his books.

Very interesting. I'm glad you posted that story.

I was just looking at the price of Canadian stamps per 8 pounds and up. Wow! Now if you are lucky to get a pound you are doing well. AND the price is out of this world.
