OK...Washington 2006 was the type of stamp show that only comes around once every 10 years ! My wife had never been to D.C. and I remember it in an alcoholic haze from my Senior High School trip..so we decided to attend the event..i hope some of you were there..well I am used to the mega shows at the Javits Center and Madison Sq Garden..but I was not prepared for the site of this baby,,it was just too huge...plus we were trying to get a few sites in..between the show and riding the metro and seeing the sites..whew ! One memorable thing we were on the Capitol lawn for the Memorial Day celebration and fireworks...Gary Senise was kind of the M.C...i hiked over to the Viet Nam War Memorial Wall..it was a bit long and hot for my wife to hoof it..the next day we took a tourist trolley and it stopped there and that was a piece of cake..but walking it from the closest metro station was not..i am glad we could attend !

A long time ago (probably 15-20 years ago) I went to a really big show in Boston. I think it was an APS show. I got there before it opened and there was a line of people waiting to get in like it was a rock concert. When they did open the bourse floor there was pushing and shoving to be the first get to the tables. These were some serious collectors! I could have spent a month looking through everything. I saw only a small fraction of it.

look what they did to my souvineer 1 I purchased a cachet for the Washington 2006 show..i wait in line to get the show cancel..then I made a big mistake..i asked the clerk if they would mail the cover to my home instead of me taking my cancelled envelope with me.. they said they would throw it in a mail bag and I thought that would be that...but NO ...the USPS in their infinite wisdom..decided to postmark my cover again....what an ugly mess it turned out..my favorite saying live and learn !

My wife and I attended Washington 2006. This was our first HUGE show, as well as my 1st time to DC. We went to 2 FD ceremonies which also was a 1st. Acquired a couple of autographs from stamp designers, artists, etc. Saw the Hawaiin Missionaries, the Jenny, the Z grill, and so much more. We also had a good time trying to complete the shows Philatelic Passport. We were at the show at least 3 different days. We hit the sites: The White House, The Capital Building, National Postal Musuem, The Old Post Office Tower,Ford's Theater, Arlington Cemetary, Washington Monument, & most of the memorials. We also went to several Smithsonian musuems, the International Spy Musuem. I could have stayed a month and still not seen everything. I can not wait to go back, someday.
