Nice cover. Nice stamps. Nice airmail etiquette too, first I have seen colored yellow. Is that Larache cancel rare? Is there a web site that lists these cancels perhaps? Strange, I was just looking at Spanish covers with these same hexagon cancels last night. The following is a cancel from 1984 (I believe) that I am not sure is part of the slogan cancel while also being most of a hexagon. I think it is a hexagonal cancel because it is sideways and it seems that part of the cancel (ESPANA) is missing. |

This type of cancellation is stamped by a manual roller or by a machine of cancelling. Exist 2 or 3 publications about of the cancellations of Spanish air mail of the period 1918-1945 and an initial catalogue of cancellations of air mail (this one is very dificult of obtaining it). I will look find tittles. |

Yes, hexagon-shaped stamps (old Belgium telegraph, recent Macau hexagrams), stamps with hexagon shapes on them, and hexagon-shaped cancels. I am relatively new at it though and do not have a lot of examples. I am also interested in the mill-wheel (star) cancels of Bavaria and the ondule cancels (scallop-shaped or corrugated circles) of France. And I like the old RPO Railways cancels of Canada and the USA. Quite the growing list isn't it? This from someone who said he was just going to collect Canada Picture Postage stamps. Now after joining SCF Stamp Community and reading and studying for more than a year I am back to being almost a full time stamp collector. What is to be done? |

I know these are airmail or special delivery type stamps (Urgent Correspondence) but I got them for the hex-shaped cancels. Pegasus, somewhat the worse for wear and a paper airplane |

I did not know Syria had hexagonal postmarks. Good. I will enjoy seeing them. I think I have seen Algeria and of course France and possibly Morocco with hex cancels. |

A shape that could / should be on a stamp. Hexagrace - Le Ciel, la Mer, la Terre (The Sky, the Sea, The Earth), a hexagon-shaped Mosaic Pool designed by Victor Vasarely in 1979, located on the rooftop of Le Spélugues in Monte Carlo, Monaco's Center of Congress building. |

Here are the Syrian Hexagonal cancels I promised, Puzzler, I think all from Kafroun, north western Syria. |

Nice Rod, thanks. All from 1967 to 69, stamp issue date anyway. Picture saved for future reference. I had a quickish look around the first time you mentioned Syria but it needs a thorough looking over I think. Lots of history there. The cradle of civilization one site mentions.
I have some more Belgium railway hex cancels I have to sort out and scan. |
