Recently I purchased this cover at auction and here is the description as listed:
1847 FRANKLIN 5˘ RED BROWN, TO VERMONT: Blue 1848 thick folded letter (pre-printed form from Tremont bank) franked with very fine #1, tied by red grid cancel and barely by matching red Boston 5 postmark; addressed to Woodstock, VT. File fold does not affect stamp. Very fine.
The #1 on the cover has a crisp impression and nice margins but upon my further examination I truly believe the color shade is (1a)Dark Brown not the (1)Red Brown shade listed in the description. This be fine by me if I'm correct since Cat. value is higher for (1a)Dark Brown. I have to get it PF Certified. I included pictures, I know it's hard to determine color shades on computer screens but I thought this cover was worth listing.
