Looks like I might be doing a bit of work too !
I have volunteered my services on the Stamp Active [youth] Stand and am awaiting my slot/s ! Should be fun to try to encourage the youngsters to take up the Hobby at a big show.

Better put on my best humourous hat those days !

Hi Londonbus
Good thing happen to good people, good job
I to wish that I could make it to the show and to meet with you.
When do you anticipate arriving in the "Old city"?
Will you have a Mailing address there?
There may be a couple more items of interests for my collection that I could use.
"Stamps on stamps, Downey heads , Penny black replicas.
Good luck "overome"
I born just a stones throw away(Sutton ,Surrey.)
David (Love the double deckers too)

David,
I wish you could make it too. How nice that would be.
I will be flying into London around Mid-day on the 4th May. The next day I will be at the big show forerunner, Philetex Extra. This I am looking forward to immensely [The venue is superb]. Then on the Saturday and Sunday [8th and 9th] at the big International, with probably one other day later in the week. It depends on the Stamp active stand and meetings with others which will be arranged during the coming weeks.
I hope it all pans out.
In between stamps, I will be spoiling my Mum and two close Aunts who have a combined age of 262 years !

But the week is about Stamps.
This is the first time I have ever made such a journey especially for a Stamp Exhibition ! {Did I say that already-sorry, it's the excitement !}

Yes, I do have a mailing address in the UK and if there is anything else you need just holler. I have marked you down for the sheet already.

Londonbus1......The question is, can I wait 11 weeks ??

Hi Londonbus, this release is going to cost me a fortune! I can't get my hands on a decent Jubilee booklet, so this will have to do as a substitute for now. Look forward to your help with the cinderellas as discussed elsewhere.

UPDATE ! UPDATE !UPDATE!

The initial plans for my visit to London in May. No dates are definite but it's a plan. Any interested folk, post here !

Just in case someone pops up with an "I want to come" message, here is my itinerary. It is not set in stone.
Thursday May 6th...Philatex at the RHH. This is the birthday of the Penny Black !
Friday May 7th.....The Royal Collection and BPMA Exhibition at the Guildhall Art Gallery.King George V material !!
Saturday May 8th......Early morning at the Collectors Market, Charing Cross [8 a.m]
Followed by the big Exhibition at the BDC. {fee for first day entry}
Sunday 9th May......Another day, or part of, at the BDC. If my favourite 'local' dealer is at a nearby provincial Stamp Fair, I may pay a visit !
Friday May 14th.....Another visit to the BDC is planned due to the changover in display material for the second half of the week.

On any of those days, most likely May 7th, I plan to visit one or more of the many Exhibitions being held in and around London: British Museum [Africa]; Museum of London Docklands [Abolition of Slavery]; The British Postal Museum and Archive [Treasures of the Archive].
There are other Exhibitions too so all is open and negotiable !
I have never been to the Royal in Devonshire Place so I may pay a visit on Thursday May 6th when they are holding an open day for the general Public. But a ticket is required.

Go here for more info on all the above.

http://www.london2010.org.uk/

So get signed up and come and have some philatelic enjoyment !

As I said, these plans are not set in stone so other days/meetings/times can be arranged.

Londonbus1......Flexible as collecting !

LATEST NEWS !

I have just secured FREE tickets for another exhibition in May.
On May 6th, there will be an open day at the Royal Philatelic Society in Devonshire Place,London.
All rooms will be open to the public [by ticket only] including the Library. There will be displays by other Royal Societies from around the world and an Afternoon Tea will be served.

It makes this day quite hectic. I will be hotlegging it between the Philatex show and the RPS. But It will be nice to see inside the famous Rooms of the Royal.

I will have to keep fit.

Londonbus1.....Lucky there is only three train metro stops between the two venues !!

The itinerary is changing, daily it seems. Now there is more to see....and even more new issues. Will post pics later.

But the news is the there is a 3-day Scout Stamp Exhibition and bourse in my home town....just 10 minutes walk from my house !
But it starts on the last day of my trip, a day reserved for the second visit to the Big Exhibition in London !

A dilemma of gargantuan proportions.

Londonbus1.....Be prepared.

Easy !
I want to go to the Scouts Exhibition and Bourse. That means I must go to the Big Exhibition in London on another day, either Wednesday or Thursday. That means another trip to London and the expense that involves !
And then......

Oh dash it. I'll work it out later.

In the meantime, more Show Goodies.

The Jeffrey Matthews Colour Palette sheet, simialr to that issued at the last big International in 2000. This time, with all the latest Machins [issued two days ago] plus a London,2010 label.
I think it's stunning.

Here is the PUC £1 Reproduction pack.

And a special show Generic [Smilers] sheet with London Icons....

There is also a very nice sheet, same format as above, with different stamps, to celebrate 10 years since the first Smilers sheet, that was available at the Show in 2000.

Also available, but not yet discussed is a special Book about the Philatelic life of George V. It is about £20 but looks very interesting and a 'must have'. Another dilemma?
More about that later and another Prestige Booklet !

Also, soon I will be asking if anyone wants something from the show and making final arrangements for this. I already have a number of interested members so keep your eyes peeled on this thread for final dates and orders.

Is there a (recommended) flea market or whatever in London where one can buy philatelic stuff and books and other collectibles?
