Is there a (recommended) flea market or whatever in London where one can buy philatelic stuff and books and other collectibles?

Yes there is.
The Collectors Market underneath Charing Cross station.
Saturdays 8am-4pm.

This is my first stop on Saturday May 8th. Only 1 hour this time though, not enough.

A book entitled 'George V and the GPO: Stamps, conflict and creativity', will go on sale in May to coincide with the Festival of Stamps. It can be purchased from Royal Mail.
The Book is being previewed by the British Philatelic Bulletin and is a riveting read.
It tells about the Prince,King and his stamps during his reign and is a thrilling insight. I will be getting a copy to read on the way home.
The cost is £20.
It is written by Douglas Muir, philatelic Curator at the British Postal Museum and Archive.
I had the pleasure to meet Mr Muir during and after a guided tour of the Machin Exhibition 'A Timeless Classic', in London in 2007. It was a private tour for 12 NPS members and was extremely interesting but also lighthearted. He was an excellent guide, and at the end he gave each one of us two gifts to remember the occasion by.
It was one of those Philatelic occasions to remember.

Also going on sale for the FOS, is a Postcard pack featuring images from the reign of King George V.

Another Royal Mail issue to help us part from our cash is the Accession Miniature sheet with a 'Business Design Centre' Overprint.
I have no news if a Press sheet is being offered for this variety ! [My God, I hope not].
At the StampShow 2000, a similar occurence. A Miniature sheet was overprinted 'Stamp Show 2000' and was much sought after being issued in limited numbers. It is good I have a ticket for the opening day of the Exhibition....I can arrive early and get to the RM stand quickly !

Here is a pic of the 'Britain Alone' prestige Book offerings...

Londonbus - I always liked that photo the the then Princess Elizabeth driving the truck. You don't get the high mucky-mucks in the colonies doing that.

Go on treat yourself !

ORDERS NOW BEING TAKEN FOR THE FESTIVAL OF STAMPS ISSUES IN MAY. GB AND RELATED ITEMS. POST HERE.

In spite of Spocks good idea to start a new thread for this important section, I have decided to keep it on this original 'Festival of Stamps' thread because of pics and the discussion of items gone before.
Many thanks to Spock for his idea and help.

You can see pics here and also on the Royal Mail website;

http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/...=cat91580006

You can also find info here;

https://goscf.com/t/7659

I am happy to purchase any item a SCF member wishes at face value plus Postage at cost and any fees incurred [explanantion coming].
I do not wish to make any profit from this from anyone here.
I am happy to send your item/s from the show itself with show cancel if wanted. I am equally happy to send it from Israel when I get back home. The choice is yours.

Because the items are at face,please take note of the following;
All payments must be in British pounds.
It is easy to send in any currency using Paypal.
All fees must be paid for.[Paypal]

Apart from the above, you will get your items with love from London...or Israel !

Alternatively, you can order from RM. By phone is better, but also from their website, Spock's problems notwithstanding.
The fees for RM are £2.15 for a single order. If the item is oversize, the charges are horrendous.

Again, the choice is yours.

So far I have:

Spock,Cjd,Jubilee,Londonbus1......An Accession M/S Press sheet [1].
djd.......An Accession M/S,PUC £1 reproduction pack,KGV prestige book.
khj......A cover with an as yet unchosen item [Competition prize]
Spock....KGV Prestige Book, Kings stamps M/S.
Londonbus1, AN Other,djd,[1 more needed]...Accession Press sheet [2]
[I hope I haven't forgotten anyone...must check !]

I wish to have all orders by April 21st.
I will then let you know the cost, and payment should be made by April 24th.

Should I come across any 'freebies' at any of the events in London, they will be passed on equally to anyone ordering, if they fit into your postage charge.

I repeat what I said earlier, this is not a profit-making offer. Just a genuine offer for members here to get some special items at near to face as possible. I am making ......

.....on this little sortie. It's for you !

Any questions, post on this thread.
If you need/want to know about any of the items, just ask and I will do my best to answer.

Finally, if any British members are lurking and want to meet, let me know here too.
The good news is that a little meeting from my GB group will take place on the Sunday. Venue to be announced, probably the Pub opposite !

I am looking to order another Accession M/S Press sheet if anyone is interested.
This is on top of the one mentioned in the previous post. So I am looking for 3 more likely collectors who might be wanting a share.

Thanks

djd,

You can join in on the latest quest for a share of a Press sheet if you wish. If you want a whole Press sheet it is then advisable to order direct from RM.
If you need help on that let me know, if you want to join in on a share, write your name down here.
You will get a horizontal strip of 4 and one loose. [which means you would not need the single sheet you ordered !!].

Two places left in this deal.

Hurry,hurry !

Londonbus1....they may sell out !

Spock,

Royal Mail will not take $60 from you without sending goods.
It is not something they would do.
There must be a misunderstanding.
Email me privately all the details and I will contact them.
