Hello all ok im at it again and I was told once before that if a s/s has a plate number on it,it is worth more,so how does this get determined?

this is #4431 with plate numbers 1 of them is a cto w/plate # the other is mnh w/plate # in the scotts 2008 its value is $10.00 can someone help me out with what I should start my bid out at please?

Tina,

That is not a plate number; simply a serial number. There was a time when it was the rage to print unique serial numbers on S/S. Gave the "appearance" of being special. But the fact is, no additional premium.

I should clarify. There are a few exceptions to the "no premium" statement. There were some S/S officially issued in very limited quantities for certain stamp exhibitions. However, these S/S usually have some additional overprints or marginal inscriptions, not just the serial number.

I remember back in the 80's, the philatelic agents for Tuvalu numbered some sheets, declaring them rare and limited, and it later turned out many of the numbers were repeated over and over!
