I'm new to this so I was wondering how to get info on my stamps iv got over 2000 of them and 1000 on the way but don't know much about stamp collecting I started 11 years ago but stoped after 2-3 months but now i'm back in to stamps can any one give me some tips on stamp collecting
Welcome to the forum. Have you decided what kind or from which country you want to collect? are the stamps you have on or off paper?
You should first sort them by country. It would be good to invest in some glassline evelope to put them into, Steve mentioned a coin and stamp shop near where you live they should have some.
Do you have an album yet? I guess that would be your next step; to decide how you are going to mount or store your stamps. Collectors have different ways of doing this. I prefer to use albums. There are lots available out there or you can make up your own.
I'm sure other more experienced than I will be along to give more advice.
there are a lot of books about how to collect stamps. you can find them most any where. try your local public library! the important thing, I think, is just collect the way you want to. it doesn't really matter how as long as you are having fun!
Jason I was going to suggest the library..they should have stamp catalogs and other books on stamps..do you live in an area with a large population?..if so..see if there is a stamp club in your area..believe me if you show up at a meeting they will be happy to see you..many stamp club members are aging and need new collectors to keep things going !!
