Can someone confirm the correct positions of the "Date Info" on Canadian machine cancels?
am/pm
day/month
year
Also if anyone can explain how these were changed I would appreciate it?
Thanks
Paul

Fitst number is the date. Roman numerals represent the month. The year is self-explanitory.

Hope this helps!

David

I see that the year is above d/m on one cancel and below on another cancel and interestingly the CDS is inverted in relation to the slogan on your 3rd example. I've never seen that before! Wish I had an answer for you but I don't.

I don't think I phrased my question correctly?
The date info on the first image list the info in the following way
am/pm
day/month
year
the second image list the info in the following way
year
day/month
am/pm
the third image list the info the same as the first but upside down?
Maybe I should have asked,
Does Canada Post instruct post offices/distribution centers to apply the date info in a specific position or can the post offices/distribution centers apply the date info the way they want to?
Thanks,again
Paul

Canada Post probably DOES have policy regarding the date positions, but it does not mean it is always followed.

It is not just Canada, I have seen many date position variances from countries around the world.

Check these two cancels from Funafuti, Tuvalu.

The first is May 17, 2001 (with 01 inverted), the second is October 11, 2002

Normally the star (or rosette) is at the top, and year at the bottom
