Another one of my favourites. No idea if it's genuine or not, and probably don't care

...and now for something completely different.

My favourite stamp doohickey, doodad, widget or doojigger.

Don't ask me where the image came from,
looks like the end of an adjustable shower curtain rail.
Ideal filler for "popular mechanics" magazine.

I have a gap pining for it.

Is that a Pine Gap? I bet you've got a picture of that as well!
It is lovely, and FWIW, although forgeries exist, I think it is genuine

If I recall, Mafia Island was part of German East Africa. Listed in Gibbons I think but not Scott.

I suppose I should have thought about more info, shouldn't I?

Mafia Island is one of the Spice Islands off southern Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika, which is where this is catalogued in SG).

In 1915 it was captured from the Germans by the British. It had been part of German East Africa.

Stamps of the Indian Expeditionary Force - Indian stamps overprinted "IEF" - were subsequently overprinted for use on Mafia Island. This is SGM35 1 anna aniline carmine MH if it's genuine. As this is worth more used than MH (£85 to £55), a forger would surely have added a postmark.

Some of my favorites are the personalized Picture Postage from Canada. I don't have all of these (yet) . Sorry not all are sized correctly.

That's one I do not have unfortunately. I would scan it at depth and post if for you. It is on the sand but the kind of mirage effect is interesting isn't it?

I will, perhaps, have to make my own if it does not turn up soon. First I will have to learn how to build a castle as good as that, years of study involved no doubt.

Hard work in the warm climes of Bermuda or some such would suit I would think. Then there is getting the just right castle and the right lighting and the props (bucket), oh and a good photographer will be needed also. All this takes time. It is a quest of sorts.

No one has made any (that I have seen) space stamps on the Picture Postage format yet. Again another quest to ponder.

I have seen the Taj Mahal on one but lost the bidding on it. The pyramids of Egypt will do I suppose. It's fun.

Wow! Gussyboy, that Paraguayan is spectacular!

(I presume it must be an "Appendix" stamp)
It would look absolutely super on cover.
