Ok? I've been scanning LOTS of First Day Issues. I've been noticing that a large portion of them are Pharmaceutical advertising directed (in the olden days of the 1960's) to the Doctor, not patient. Two questions. Should I be keeping those covers in separate file or is a first day cover, a first day cover? Is there any liability responsibility I might have in the content of the advertising?

I wouldn't worry about liability... there are no patient names so HIPPA isn't in effect.
I would keep them with the covers.
Looks like Ayerst was sending out FDC's to their docs. I think that is pretty neat.

And you understand 45CFR Part 46 issues why? I thought I was one of the few nerdy persons who'd get it. :) Anyway.... Unfortunately, some of the earlier 1960's ones seem to have chemical discoloration issues along the glue lines on the back which have discolored the front. Not much I can do about that. But I have a whole chug of postcards with foreign postage from ABT too... that's next weeks scanning project... or maybe next month?

1. Civilian Paramedic
2. Independent duty corpsman and a "Marine" aka Line Corpsman...
3. various other medical training.
4. Worked in an ER for a PA
Mind you ,except for the Navy gig, the other stuff was part time for fun.

yeah, I have had some experience...

I agree too...keep the letters with the FDCs. You might run across some from the Flintkote Company soon enough too. I know a few people who collect FDCs with the letters and they sell better that way too. Do you have the Pharmacy stamp (Scott 1473) from 1972 with the letter? That one is a popular one.
Will
