Hi all, I collect primarily British Empire - stamps and postal history. I enjoy purchasing collections in search of elusive varieties, as well as picking up bargains on ebay, Bidstart and Delcampe. I look forward to sharing and learning with other members of this community. I am 36 years old, and live and work in the midlands of Tasmania, Australia. Hello PlateFlaw, welcome!  When I saw your user name I thought of some auctions on ebay I had seen a while ago with Canada KGV commemorative stamps that had not until then been pointed out to have plate flaws present. I saved a few pics of the 10c Mountie stamp and the 13c I think. Got me interested in the existence of them to start with as the seller pointed out where the flaws were by yellowing in the areas where they were so a novice could see things. I have this great picture of me feeding a grey kangaroo in the wildlife sanctuary in Bichemo, Tasmania, in 1991. I remember a big truck hauling these massive logs over the hills. Beautiful country. |

Thank you very much everyone for a most warm welcome. Cjd - I do like it here, and I will be sharing lots of interesting stuff. Puzzler - I love the stamps which are like individual pieces of art work, always something new to discover every time you look at them. When you return to Tasmania (everyone who visits has to come back), look me up. Londonbus1 - it is great to see you again. Nuggethill - Jack Cashion, the creator of the animal topiary on the Midlands Highway, passed away some years ago. One of our local council workers now carries on the maintenance work. Regrettably, a couple of years ago a vandal with a chainsaw cut the head and tail off the topiary crocodile. The crocodile is slowly recovering. Thanks again everyone.  |
