Yes, and for me, as an example, the Stanley Gibbons perf gauge is a gauge that I just simply cannot use. And, I tried. As you might recall I collect Machins and I wanted a genuwine British gauge and you can't get more than SG. But, try as I might I just cannot use it and have failed miserably. Went back to my old trusty metal Unitrade gauge. For those who can use the SG gauge, Lord bless them.
I think some of this stuff is personal and tied to habits and in my case, probably some thick headedness.
QUOTE: Sure, give it a try, but I suspect it is harder than it might sound. In any event, its beyond me. Any given the tolerances here, not sure I'd use do it.
Umm you would have to scan it in real size.. like put it on a 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper.. then scan the whole paper, that way when the image is printed to fit on a 8.5 x 11, it would be life size.
A mistake that some make when measuring perf. 11 stamps is to just measure the top and/or bottom and assume that the sides also measure perf. 11 (for flat plate stamps) when they may measure perf. 10.5 (for rotary press stamps). The vertical pair of red stamps perf. 11 in the picture is most likely rotary press perf. 11 x 10.5 as Scott #634 while the perf. 11 x 11 may mostly be Scott # 554, but it must be checked out.
