Hello!

Greetings fellow stamp collectors (philatelists, if you're fancy)...

Wonderful to have found this forum and to have already interacted with a few of you. I've seen some amazing stamps and learned a great deal just by browsing through here and look forward to contributing. Right now, I have a bit of a break from work and have spent the past two weeks immersed in disparate interests (catching trout in Oregon and exploring stamp collecting).

Funny: in all the moves that I have made in my life, somehow a couple of envelopes of stamps that somebody (who?) gave me in childhood, around age seven, have remained in my possession, tucked away forgotten at the bottom of a trunk, until recently. I have fond memories of locating countries on the map, to see where my stamps originated (Lesotho? Where is that?). Several weeks ago, out of boredom, I was browsing the internet and read that the Swallowtail Butterfly is the official insect Oregon, where I live now. I clicked on a link and wound up looking at a picture of a stamp --> a switch flipped. So an old interest is rekindled.

Anyway, thanks to all for making the internet a better place!

Hello everyone

First time I join a stamp collecting forum. I'm french canadian and I just write basic english. It should be no problem to make myself understand. I was back to collecting 5 years ago after stopping for more than 25 years. Like when I was young my thrill is to receive stamps by mail. I buy allot on ebay and Delcampe. I buy to the stamp dealer too and to stampshow in Montreal. I have a huge Europa collection that I mostly build buying complete years. For this collection I start with my old Europa album finishing in 1978 and I go on making my own pages with Albumeasy. I make a precise description of each stamp. I have also collections of Poland and Greenland. Recently I bought a collection of Zanzibar and comparing Scott 2007 and 2010 was suprise how the value raise. Finally I have a Tall Ships collection and a small painting collection. Stamp collecting bring great pleasure and knowledge.

It might be better for you if you copied and pasted your introduction message and started a new topic / thread in the Introduce yourself forum. That way everyone who looks here (most) will see you really are a new fellow and not just a usual member answering Gaff's thread. Just helping out. The more publicity the better!
