Hey, I just joined today and am excited to interact with this community. I must say I do not know much about stamps. When my father passed 12 years ago I inherited my fathers stamp collection. Now that I have time to go through them I know why he started collecting them. It will take years to go through them all and about the same amount of time to learn about stamps.

Hi Mark Welcome and I hope you thoroughly enjoy your hobby. It is a wonderful past time. I hope your collection has not just been lying round for 12 years. Stamps can get mildew etc. on them by just lying round in their albums. Get them out regularly and look at them, let the air get to them. Do this on warm dry days.
What countries do you collect? |

Hi Bruce, I have looked at them a few times over the years. I still have a lot to learn. I am collecting all countries but still don't know what I have. There must be 10,000 stamps here that should keep me busy for a long time. |

Mark, Enjoy your stamps and your time here at the SCF. No better place to learn and have fun. When your scanner is up and running, post some pics of what you have. Also, let us know where you are in the world so we know what time to give you that early morning call ! Londonbus1...... |

Welcome Mark. I haven't hit the magic 14-day mark but have already learned alot from reading the various posts. I think you'll be glad that you joined.

Thank you everyone for the welcome.
stampgal Only one album. The rest are in bags, boxes and some are in small file boxes. Found one box that had new stamps in it. When ever a new stamp came out my dad went to the post office and bought a sheet of them and put them in a box. They are from the seventies. He must have put the collection away after that. No stamps from the 80's on. Now I need to organize all the stamps somehow.

Bienvenue Mark. 10 000 stamps is great to start with and i'm sure your father would be proud you pursue is collection. It's a great hobby! Do you have a catalogue? If you don't, check you're local library. Mine have the Scott catalogues new edition every year. The current year is for reference but the previous year I can bring home. Daniel |
