ten or eleven years ago I became interested in the stamps of Guatemala and if you do not go too deep into varieties etc: a person could build a pretty decent collection for several hundred dollars ! Well now I am interested in Argentina and believe me Guatemala was a walk in the park compared to Argentina...Guatemala is and was a conservative stamp issuing country...looks like Argentina is the opposite...they issued the same sets with minor differences in 1935-1951,1942-1950 and 1945-47...the general collector probably puts one example of the sets in his album and lets it go at that..oh, what a learning experience lies ahead !

Hey Philb,

I've got a batch of Argentina stamps that someone had sent me. I picked through it for the Airmails and have left the rest sitting in a "wait until later" envelope near the back of the line. I do like them though. Some neat looking ones in there.

Serendipity had me on a page of the 1936
australian stamp news.

Argentine news, make of it what you will,
I have not studied it yet, I presume there
was a philatelic exhibition in 1936 in Buenos Aires?

Cheers Phil.
found it.
Going by the comments of both authors, I think we can conclude
the remainders were incinerated.

Philb,

I'm afraid they are mostly older, but I'll put your name on the envelope and that you're looking for mid 1980's to 2001 so I can keep an eye open for those for ya when I get around to sorting through them. Which will be who knows when.

Edit 8-15-10: Sorry PhilB, Nothing past about 1970. Now that I've got them pretty much all sorted into face different stacks and reasonbly sorted in Scott# sequence, I can offer them to a trade partner. Whatever he doesn't claim will go onto Stampcommunity trade section. There was a set of 8 from Buenos Aires (the forgeries). Maybe I'll reserve them for SCF for first dibs. Noe- can I find that thread on Bueson Aires? Wish me luck.

Actually I check SCF almost daily, sometimes even more often for interesting stuff. But as I'm a 100% finn, I don't do much random small talk (or writing in this case).
