I recently gave a home to a large collection of cut squares from the Australian States. Among the items were many Frank Stamps, presumably for governmental officials. Here are a couple of examples from Victoria that caught my eye...

Any story to these?

Thanks.

Dear Collin,
I looked in all the magazines I have read in the past two weeks,
nothing.
I know I have is somewhere but don't hold your breath.

I was fairly sure it was my Cinderella Club magazine
but my database does not come up with anything.

Thanks for that...the new acquisition has a few W.A., but no Franks, just postal stationery.

This bit of news should encourage owners of postal stationery
to leave well alone!
If your owner had not cut that postcard
you would have a major "find" worth thousands.

You will have to do your own checking, I know squat,
but it looks to me like your half penny red brown on pink
there are only 2 known copies that exist, with the hyphen between
"half" and "penny"
This is thought to be a plate variety

2d represented postcards sent from Australia to England
via "The Long sea route"

By the "long sea route" meant the continuation of the steamer's passage from Brindisi or Naples to England via Gibraltar.

the difference in time is 6 days in favor of the route via brindisi
or naples (via rail)

This would appear to be an example going by way of Brindisi or Naples. A 3d Queensland square...

This appears to be a two-design square...? Uprated?

Seems like it would have been easier to just overprint it...or is there another explanation?
