How fortunate are we on this forum?
Back in the days of Usenet this is how many people it took to Identify a stamp 1,331!
Q: How many Usenet subscribers does it take to identify a stamp?
A: 1,331:
1 to request help in identification of a stamp
1 to identify the stamp and to post to the list that the stamp has been identified
14 to share similar experiences of identifying stamps and how the stamp could have been identified differently.
6 to caution about the dangers of mis-identifying stamps.
27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about identifying stamps.
53 to flame the spell checkers
156 to write to the list administrator complaining about the stamp identification and its inappropriateness to this mail list.
41 to correct spelling in the spelling/grammar flames.
109 to post that this list is not about stamp identification and to please take this to alt.stamp.identify
203 to demand that cross posting to alt.grammar, alt.spelling and alt.punctuation about identifying stamps be stopped.
111 to defend the posting to this list saying that we are all identify stamps and therefore the posts **are** relevant to this mail list.
110 to debate which method of identification or catalog is superior, where to buy the best stamps, what type of stamps are best and which are not real stamps
104 to anonymously post nasty remarks about other group posters
92 to flame the anonymous posters
27 to post URLs where one can see examples of different identified stamps
14 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly, and to post corrected URLs.
3 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to identifying stamps
33 to concatenate all posts to date, then quote them including all headers and footers, and then add "Me Too."
12 to post to the list that they are unsubscribing because they cannot handle the stamp identification controversey.
19 to quote the "Me Too's" to say, "Me Three."
4 to suggest that posters request the stamp FAQ.
1 to propose new alt.identify.stamp newsgroup.
47 to say this is just what alt.watermarks was meant for, leave it here.

I agree whole heartily with both Rod and Phil. I have learned a lot from this forum and made some great friends to boot. Dianne |

I almost enjoy the forum more than my stamps. I think it about time to enlist the talents of our SCF members and start another contest designing the 2nd annual Stamp Community Family souvenir sheet. Just a few more months to go for another anniversary. For those newbies, proceeds of the s/s go to the SCF and you become a supporter and get something in exchange! Here's a link to that original contest from last year: https://goscf.com/t/6090&SearchTerms=SCF,sheet |
