The best introduction to Burma album pages are a few copies of Indian stamps used in Burma before it became a
crown colony in 1937 and got its own stamps. Except for Rangoon, these postmarks are hard to find, but the hunt
will help you follow the Allies' reconquest of this land.

Chief Burmese postmarks are :

Ahlone, Akyab, Amherst, Bassein, Bhamo, Gyo-bingauk, Hopin, Hsipaw, Insein, Kalaw, Kawiin, Kaungyangon,
Kyangin, Kyaukme, Kyauksa, Lanywa, Lashio, Loilem, Magwe, Mandalay, Mau-bin, Maymyo, Meiktila, Mergui,
Mogaung, Mogok, Monywa, Moulmein, Mupin, Myingyan, Myit'ky-ina, Namtu, Pakokku, Palaw, Pegu, Prome,
Py-apon, Pyu, Rangoon, Sagaing, Sandoway, Shwebo, Shwedaung, Syriam, Tavoy, Tharrawaddy, Thaton,
Thayetmyo, Toungoo, Wakema, Yame-thin, Yandoor, Zegyo and Zigon.—

Very nice Battlestamps
first time I have seen such a crisp clear
cancel strike of Rangoon.

Burma in 1927, how beautiful must have that been!
